Water Infused with Strawberry & Pineapple
An infusion is the process of extracting medicinal components from a plant material into water, tea, oil or alcohol. This method has been used for centuries to aid in good health. Posca, also known as honey water was a favorite in ancient Rome. The Romans would mix together vinegar, water and herbs. This in turn would help prevent certain diseases, such as scurvy because the vinegar killed bacteria.
In this recipe, the stars of this water infusion are pineapple and strawberries, which are both rich in vitamin C and antioxidants,, and the stomach-calming mint. You can use still, mineral or seltzer water. A fun tip: spear the fruit on skewers so the fruit is not loose in the water. You can also freeze the fruit and it can help keep water cold. The possibilities are endless for water infusions, try any fruit or herb mix, anything to boost your hydration!
