Living in Italian: Healthy Sausage & Peppers

Fiorella prepares an Italian favorite: Sausage and Peppers, using a light and healthy recipe!

 

Nutrition RX:

  • Bell Peppers contain Vitamin C and beta-carotene, which provide anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Fennel is rich in folate, fiber and potassium, which help support heart health.

  • Turkey Sausage is a healthier, leaner protein alternative to pork or beef sausage, which is lower in saturated fat which also improves heart health. 

Ingredients:

  • Spicy Italian Turkey Sausage

  • Fennel

  • Assorted Bell Peppers

  • Red Onions

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Red Pepper Flakes

  • Sea Salt

     

Preparation:

  1. Place turkey sausage in a pan over medium-high heat and turn often. 

  2. Slice peppers, fennel, and onions. 

  3. Sautee peppers, fennel and onions in a pan withe extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper over medium heat for approximately 10 minutes. 

  4. Remove from heat and toss to combine.

  5. Serve & enjoy!
