Wine expert Mark Oldman gave a presentation based on his recent book, How to Drink like a Billionaire, as a guest speaker at the 92nd Street YMCA on last week. Mark began the presentation with a demonstration on sabering prosecco, and maintained the fun atmosphere throughout the night. Mark taught us how to choose the right wine, and to drink with confidence! We tasted three different wines, and Mark discussed each one as we sipped- our menu is below:
Whispering Angel Rose
Mark believes that Rose is an excellent light drink to enjoy any time, not only in the summer. Mark suggests that it is often more reasonably priced than alternatives, and thinks that it deserves more credit! Mark also suggests this wine pairs well with a wide variety of food types, making it the perfect go-to drink.
In Mark’s mind, the word prosecco is equivalent to joy. He recommends the Mionetto as an alternative to the pricey labels, and says it packs just as much flavor. Mark recommends drinking “bubbly” in any situation, and says that we need not reserve it for New Years and special occasions, as it often pairs well with many different meals.
Mark believes its time to stop making jokes about the poor color and quality of Chianti, and embrace the new bottles coming out of Tuscany. Mark says that Italian Red wines are made to be consumed with food, and suggests we do just that!
We had a great time learning from Mark, and recommend you check out his new book, How to Drink like a Billionaire! If he is speaking at a location near you, recommend you check that out as well!
