Five New Ways to Eat Fruit for Dessert!
The summer heat makes us crave ice cream and frozen treats, but that can get boring after a while. The summer can also be a fun time to try out some new recipes using fresh seasonal fruits! Here are some fresh and easy ideas:
1. Grilled Peaches
Grilled Peaches are great for a post-barbeque dessert! When you’re done grilling you meat and veggies, cut a peach in half and place on the grill open-side down. After a few minutes take them off the grill and enjoy! For an extra treat, cover with cinnamon sugar and serve with ice cream- maybe a scoop of banana ice cream!
2. Chocolate Covered Blueberries
Chocolate covered blueberries are easy to make and will blow your mind! Just melt chocolate, pour over blueberries and freeze or refrigerate for a few hours. Take them out when you’re ready and swap them in place of candy! We think they’re even better than chocolate covered strawberries.
3. Baked Apple
Baked Apples are a good alternative, and quick fix, for an apple pie craving! To make these, core out the middle of your apple and fill with a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Wrap in foil and throw in the oven or on the grill. After a few minutes, unwrap, cut the apples, and enjoy! Serve with ice cream for an extra treat!
4. Banana Ice Cream
Banana ice cream is one of our favorite desserts of all time. It tastes amazing and will satisfy all of your ice cream cravings. All you need is a frozen banana and some milk. Add both ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. For an extra kick, we recommend you try adding additional flavors- cacao powder or peanut butter powder are some of our favorites!
5. Yogurt Drops
Yogurt Drops are another good alternative to candy that can cool you down on a summer day. To make yogurt drops, place small dollops of your favorite flavor of yogurt (or even better mix plain yogurt with fruit to make your own flavor) on a sheet, and place in the freezer for a few hours. Take them out when solid, and pop them in your mouth!
