Top 5 Israeli Restaurants

One of my favorite things to do is explore restaurants and cafes of various cuisines. It is a fun and delicious way to understand other cultures. This weeks edition will be focusing on Israeli food! From casual to more upscale, Israeli Mediterranean cuisine is delicious anywhere!

Taim | 222 Waverly Pl New York, NY

This place is known as falafel heaven! They don’t serve any meat so this is a great option for vegetarians or those looking to cut down on meat without sacrificing flavor! For your first visit, I recommend their falafel platter which is straight forward and delicious!

Azuri Cafe | 465 W 51st St New York, NY

A longtime Hell’s Kitchen staple, you really can’t get better Israeli food than Azuri for a quick and inexpensive meal! Every time I eat here I feel transported back to Israel eating at their markets! Fresh and delicious!

Balaboosta | 214 Mulberry St. New York, NY

Looking for some more upscale dining with delicious Israeli cuisine? Balaboosta has you covered. They feature some amazing dishes like their lamb burger and mortar and pestle hummus are incredible! Their eclectic wine menu is an added bonus!

Taboon | 773 10th Ave. New York, NY

If you are looking for some Mediterranean fusion, Taboon is a great option! Featuring Israeli, Moroccan flavors and more you are guaranteed a great meal. The restaurant itself is really beautiful with so many fresh and healthy dishes.

Cafe Tarantin | 302 W 38th St. New York, NY

I personally love an Israeli breakfast and Israel Shakshuka is a must! Cafe Tarantin does this traditional Israeli breakfast right…served in a cute pan with a huge loaf of bread you won’t go home hungry! The coffee here is amazing too!

Which dish from this list receives the stamp of “RD Approval”?

The “Grilled Bronzino: Beluga lentil, Muhammara, Grilled Lemon” from Balaboosta! This dish is high in omega fatty acids and high in fiber and iron from the lentils! The muhammara is a Syrian hot pepper dip served on the side making this dish explode with flavor. If you are looking to keep dinner light without sacrificing flavor, this dish is a winner! Tip: you can have the fish filet or bones in, your choice!
