This past week I attended the Holiday Spirits Bazaar by Dizzy Fizz at the Bowery Hotel ballroom and it was a swank-fest with luscious libations! The event featured holiday cocktails made by some of NYC’s best bartenders. There was even a judging panel to see who would win for the best cocktail!
New this year, was a mini pop-up cocktail book fair. The best spirits writers around will sign and sell copies of their newest releases, adding to the festive spirit of the event while continuing the theme of encouraging guests to entertain at home. I especially enjoyed chatting with Heather Greene, author of “Whiskey Distilled, A Populist Guide to the Water of Life on Viking Studio, an imprint of Random House Penguin.”
Another highlight was attendee was Robert Simonson, leading authority on spirits and cocktails and author of “The Old-Fashioned.” The knowledge base of these two was incredible! Here is is mixing up the famous cocktail.
This event wasn’t just about delicious cocktails, a silent auction was included as well to benefit
Mana Fest, which provides public arts programming to underserved communities. A portion of the proceeds also went to the Children’s Aid Society. Guests were also encouraged to bring toys for “Toy’s for Tots” as well as non-perishable food for Food Bank NYC.
Some of the vendors that were there exhibiting their spirits included Bulleit Bourbon, Partida Tequila, Don Q Rum, Grand Marnier, Reyka Vodka, Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur, Four Roses Bourbon, Rum Diplomatico, Sheep Dip Blended Malt, G’Vine Gin, Drambuie Liqueur, Black Bottle Scotch, Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky, Brugal Rum, Highland Park Single Malt, Montelobos Mezcal, Pig’s Nose Scotch Whisky, Half Moon Orchard Gin, Hudson Whiskey, George Dickel Tennessee Whisky, The Feathery Blended Malt, Indigenous Vodka, Amaro Lucano, Edinburgh Gin, Bains Single Grain Whiskey, Brooklyn Gin, Wondermint Schnapps, Kringle Cream Liqueur!
