Being a Hell’s Kitchen resident, I have been hearing great things about the neighborhood’s latest coffee shop, Bibble & Sip. Located on 51st st between 8th and Broadway this coffee shop is a haven for both tourists and locals. I ventured in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed, and rightfully so!
I asked the barista what their most popular drinks are and she said the lavender latter and matcha jasmine latte. But since it was a warmer day, I opted for their cold brew which was delicious, not sour or acidic. The cold brew came with their alpaca logo on it, which is pretty cool. The owner, Gary Chan, said in an interview on their website, “I one day read about its unique characteristics, and somehow the quirky animal sort of stuck with me. On my travels I would pick up alpaca items just for personal collection. So most of its significance was personal liking. I tried really hard to come up with an explanation for it.”
He also explained his love of the jasmine plant which is seen in his drinks and pastries. Chan was trained in French Confectionery but is inspired by Asian flavors which are abundant in the shop. There were so many delicious looking pastries. I knew I should have tried one of the jasmine-flavored pastries, but I am a chocoholic. The barista recommended I try the chocolate chip brownie cookie. It was essentially a chocolate chip cookie with brownie bites and chocolate chips. And yes, it was as good as it sounds!
I really loved this quirky coffee shop and the interesting items they have to offer. If you are in the neighborhood I definitely recommend you check this place out!
