Living in a city that is home to numerous great bakeries, I dare not forget about Tone Café and their coveted khachapuri (traditional Georgian cheese-filled bread). This “Eastern European pizza” is (deceptively) light, perfectly buttered, rich, and ideal for sharing!
Located in the heart of SoHo, Balthazar’s bakery offers delectable bread and pastries all year round. If you’re in the area and need to satisfy your sweet tooth, I strongly recommend their apple spice galette ((a rustic tart with hand folded edges)—it is buttery, slightly tart, and the perfect ratio of bread to filling.

It puts a major smile on my face every time I am able to get the olive bread here (it’s baked in their century old coal oven!). Blue Ribbon is mainly known for their sushi, but I am most riveted by all the various types of breads each time I’m here. Keep the carbs coming!
