Delicious Hostess Gifts for the Holiday Season!
Salt of the Earth Bakery-I have been a fan of this family business ever since I found them at Brooklyn Eats (recall from July Fancy Food Time!)--they pair their cookies and brownies with salts from around the world-genius. The packaging is gorgeous too!
Make My Cake Bakery- I love a business with a story and this long-standing family run Harlem business is still making the local favorite Sweet Potato Cheesecake as well as other delights like Red Velvet and German Chocolate Cake-Aliyyah Baylor calls her customers "sweeties" instead of foodies and learned everything she knows from Josephine Smith, "Ma Smith". And they are selling their frosting too.
StudMuffins- We enjoyed the eye candy at this stop and loved the baked goodies too! Pick up one of their Love Buckets or the Stud Buckets filled with their signature cookies. Loved the Sugar Cookies and the Sinners and Saints. They also also some low-cal options!
Ovenly-Agatha Kulaga told us about her new book, Ovenly: Sweet and Salty Recipes from New York's Most Creative Bakery, while I munched on the Maple Thyme Pecans that are sold sealable bags along with Spicy Bacon Caramel Corn and Old Salties-and her chocolate chip cookies are no joke too!
Brooklyn Cupcake- Who doesn't like a cupcake? Well me. However these cupcakes were moist and the frosting was not so sweet-just like I like them. Tres Leche, French Toast (really loved the frosting on this one) and Crazy Carrot.
Prohibition Distillery Brian Facquet of Prohibition Distillery in Roscoe, NY will show you how it is done-I mean literally, just go to his distillery and he will show you the process-I love that! Pick up his Bootlegger 21 New York Vodka or his lovely fragrant Gin-all in gorgeous bottles- your hostess will love you!
